The TDP supporters came out on the street to protest against the film by stopping its screening in some of the theatres and even burning the posters of the film and dummy of Ram Gopal Verma.
The protestors claimed that the film projects a character which is inspired by the TDP founder late N T Rama Rao who uses and encourages gang wars for his political advantages.
"NTR was never afraid of anything. To show such a person as encouraging factionalism is not correct. You cannot damage the sentiments of people and his followers. You cannot say let family members see it, and if they object we will remove, it is not correct," TDP president Chandrababu Naidu claimed.
Though Verma agreed to delete some of the scenes as asked by the TDP supporters but he said that he did not feel that his film projected anyone in the real life. However, the producers of the film finally decided to remove some scenes from the Telugu version to run it peacefully.
"There is no NTR. Shatrughan Sinha is playing the role of Shivaji. His name is Shivaji Rao," Ram Gopal Verma said.
The film is based on a true story of Andhra Pradesh politician Paritala Ravi played by Vivek Oberoi. The film has been praised by several critics who have advised the light hearted people to keep away from it as it contains a lot of violence.
